Local Government Strategic Plan Chapter Update

By Joseph Oldham

After more than six months of meetings, and three earlier draft versions, the fourth draft of the local government chapter of the California Long-term Energy Efficiency Strategic Plan (Plan) has been delivered to the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC). The local government chapter was the first to go through the update process and now awaits the other chapter updates before the CPUC will take any formal action on the chapter and the Plan. Action is expected sometime in 2014.

The chapter update includes the first attempt to attach energy savings metrics to the local government goals. The CPUC will be developing these energy metrics for all of the chapters going forward. Meetings to discuss and get feedback on local government energy target development took place in November and December 2013.

Questions about the chapter update should be directed to Joseph Oldham (slgeebpc@lgc.org) or Jeremy Battis (jbattis@cpuc.ca.gov).
