Community Choice Aggregation Workshops in November

The Local Government Commission is convening two workshops in November to educate local government elected leaders and staff about Community Choice Aggregation (CCA). The first workshop will be November 9th at the Association of Bay Area Government’s headquarters in Oakland. ABAG is co-sponsoring this workshop. The second workshop will be in Beverly Hills on November 16th

Assembly Bill 117, signed into law in 2002, allows cities, counties and groups of cities and counties to implement CCA in order to provide electricity to the homes, businesses and institutions within their jurisdictions. CCA is only allowed in the service territories of the investor owned utilities (PG&E, Edison, and SDG&E) who will continue to provide transmission and delivery services. Customers wishing to stay with their IOU can opt out of the CCA program.

The workshops will provide background information on CCA and results from some of the feasibility studies done by Navigant Consulting, Inc. as part of the California Energy Commission and US Department of Energy funded pilot study. There will also be presentations by, and a time for interaction with, local governments currently exploring CCA feasibility.

Please contact Pat Stoner ( for more information. To register on line, visit: The workshop registration fee is $15. Lunch will be provided.

A fact sheet on CCA is also available:
