Regional Energy Authorities Project Update

LGC’s project to help Humboldt and Ventura Counties and the cities within them to establish regional energy authorities reached a milestone recently when both communities agreed to establish offices. Humboldt’s authority is called the Redwood Coast Energy Authority (RCEA) and has been in existence since late April. The RCEA Board, comprised of elected officials from all seven cities and the County, is working on securing staff and consultants to start saving energy in the county.

Ventura’s authority, called the Ventura County Regional Energy Authority, will convene its first meeting on July 14th. VCREA starts with the County and the cities of Oxnard, Thousand Oaks and Ventura as members. These regional efforts resulted from the dedication of local elected officials, staff and committed residents in both counties.
